Off-Center
Sam Jaffe, Laura Mackin, and Bobbi Meier
January 25 - February 23, 2019

“Off-Center” is a three-person show of recent works created by Sam Jaffe, Laura Mackin, and Bobbi Meier, the newest co-directors of the artist-run gallery and collective ADDS DONNA. This exhibition will nudge viewers on and “off-center,” by showcasing works that tempt, repel, cuddle, camouflage, and withhold.

The inexact segments that make up Sam Jaffe’s paintings and sculptures intentionally disrupt the visual expectations set up by their approximate repetition. Laura Mackin uses large swathes of paper to cloak sections of the gallery with hypnotic imagery that provocatively reveals its dark side over time. Bobbi Meier summons viewers to become one with her sensuous, fleshy sculptures and manipulated photographs and asks if it is possible to hold an intimate moment in a space potentially full of ardent spectators.
