This summer, ADDS DONNA is turning the gallery into an artist residency. Reversing the standard one-week install/five-week exhibition model, we’ve invited artists to use the gallery as a studio for four weeks to produce new work or a site-specific project which will be on view in a one-week exhibition.
The June/July resident is Tracie Hayes. Hayes’s work considers the ecological address, the process of ecology, and the communication of scientific findings. She works with various media, including yarn, thread, wood, paint, and rock. During her residency, she will be conducting fieldwork in nearby Humboldt Park and creating ceramic vessels to house and disseminate her findings.
Join us Friday, July 20th from 6-9 pm for the culminating exhibition, Reserve/Reservoir. Hayes presents her findings from Humboldt Park concerning ecological field methods, the breaking down of natural-cultural dichotomies, and the countering of ecologist-as-colonialist. She has been considering Alexander von Humboldt, Humboldt Park’s namesake, and the history of exploration and ecological speculation throughout her process.
The exhibition will be on view through July 22, 2018. (Sa & Su: 12-5pm)
